Carl Hamilton is an experienced litigation attorney whose areas of practice include business, real estate, construction and toxic tort litigation
He joined the former law firm of Ewers & Toothaker Law Firm in McAllen in 1960 where he was partner until 1991 when he joined the Atlas & Hall firm.
He graduated from the University of Texas School of law with an L.L.B. in 1960. He is admitted to practice before the United States Supreme Court, the Texas Supreme Court, the United States Court of Appeals for the Fifth Circuit, the United States District Court for the Southern, Northern and Western Districts of Texas, and the United States Court of Federal Claims.
Carl served as a member of the Texas Supreme Court Advisory Committee (1995 – 2017); Chair, Court Rules Committee, State Bar of Texas (1995 – 2005); Member, Texas Association of Defense Counsel since 1962; and Member, Defense Research Institute since 1970.
Carl was born and grew up in the Rio Grande Valley and joined the United States Navy in 1951. He received a naval scholarship to the University of Texas (Naval ROTC program) where he received a Bachelor’s degree in 1955 and a commission in the United States Navy. While in the Navy, he served on several ships and was operations officer on a destroyer escort from 1955-1958. After discharge from the Navy, he entered law school at the University of Texas, graduating in 1960. He was a Naval Rescue Officer until 1962.
