  • Vicki’s Biography

    Vicki Skaggs’ practice involves litigation and counseling in the area of bankruptcy and creditors’ rights.

    Vicki also provides assistance to our bank and financial institution clients regarding legal issues concerning loans, secured transactions, restructuring and foreclosures.

    She graduated from the University of Texas at Austin with a Bachelor of Science in Education, Summa Cum Laude, in 1979. She obtained her Doctor of Jurisprudence, Cum Laude, from the University of Houston College of Law in 1981. Vicki interned with bankruptcy Judge Edward H. Patton, Jr., prior to graduation.

    Vicki has been District 15 state director for the Texas Young Lawyers’ Association, District 12-B panel chair for the Texas State Bar grievance committee, president of the Rio Grande Valley Bankruptcy Bar Association as well as chair and co-chair for numerous Texas State Bar and local bar committees. Vicki has given back to the public community by serving in a number of diverse positions including Chairman of the Board of Trustees for the Museum of South Texas History, director of the Girl Scouts-Tip of Texas Council; chair and co-chair of various fund raising committees for McAllen International Museum, Easter Seals and the Junior League of McAllen; co-sponsor of the Episcopal Young Churchmen; and officer or chair of various public school groups and committees.

    Vicki is currently a member of the Bankruptcy Section of the Texas State Bar, Rio Grande Valley Bankruptcy Bar Association, Hidalgo County Bar Association and the American Bar Association. She is also a long-standing Fellow with the Texas Bar Foundation. Vicki has been a speaker and author of several papers on business bankruptcy law and creditors’ rights.
