Debra L. Goetz joined the firm in 2002. She is a transactional attorney and her practice focuses on corporate matters, including entity formation, and local government law.
Debra is licensed to practice in both Texas (2003) and New York (1989). She received her B.A. from the University of Chicago, with honors in political science, in 1985, and her J.D, magna cum laude, from Cornell University in 1988, where she was an articles editor for the Cornell Law Review. She is originally from New York and was previously associated in New York with the law firm of Cleary, Gottlieb, Steen and Hamilton and with Rainbow Media Holdings, Inc., a subsidiary of Cablevision Systems Corporation. She was born in New York and moved to Texas in 2002.
In addition to being a member of the State Bar of Texas, she is a member of the Hidalgo County Bar Association, the New York Bar Association and the American Bar Association.
In addition to providing pro bono legal services to local nonprofit organizations, Debra currently serves as the president of the Sisterhood of Temple Emanuel of McAllen, Inc., in addition to serving on the Temple’s board of directors, ritual committee and education committee and serves on the North American board of Women of Reform Judaism.
